The Devil's Maverick Cover Reveal!

Alright, guys. Here we are! We made it!

If you had told me nearly six years ago that this was happening, I would have laughed in your face, then asked what you were doing in my house.

I just wanted to thank some people first. Clayton, you supported me through all of this mess. The sleepless nights during querying, the rants when I didn’t know what to write next, and the ugly crying when I got my first contract. Thank you.

Leyna, you were there for all of that, too. Plus, you had to edit my dumpster fire of a first draft! You’re the greatest and I can’t thank you enough for all the love and support you put into me and this book.

Mikela, you were the first inspiration. Megan, you supported me as only a sister could. Kristen and Bekah, you two are my best friends and encouraged me every day! And, Writing Community, I can’t name you all off of the top of my head, but you’re all the best internet friends an author could ask for.

I’m so proud to be a part of the Totally Entwined family. I hope to publish with them for the rest of my career! They really made this possible and I’m so grateful to everyone who works there.

Okay, enough with the sappy stuff. On to what you’re all really here for; The Devil’s Maverick official cover art:

Isn’t it gorgeous? I couldn’t be happier with this! For those interested, here are some links for preorders and such:

The Devil's Maverick Official Soundtrack (Sort of...)

Hello, all! In celebration of The Devil’s Maverick preparing for preorders, I thought I would post one of my first TDM tidbits!

I, like many authors, write to music. Music inspires me and keeps me writing! When I was writing The Devil’s Maverick, I wrote specific scenes to specific songs and thought I would share them with you. These songs might give you a little insight into the feel of TDM.

Now, during the fight scenes, I had hardcore, epic battle music going, and of course there was other music involved. But, if I were to make an official soundtrack to go with the book, these are the songs I would include:

Flawless by The Neighborhood

In All My Dreams I Drown by Terrance Zdunich

Dark in My Imagination by Of Verona

Hostage by Billie Eilish

Open Water by Blessthefall

Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea by Missio

Demons by Imagine Dragon

W.D.Y.W.F.M? By The Neighborhood

Hopefully you enjoy these songs and they give you a special sneak peek into the world of The Devil’s Maverick! Preorders will be available December 17th. Stay tuned for more about my debut novel!

When the Going Gets Tough...

“You know what they say. When the going gets tough, the tough get… Well, I don’t know what the tough do. I don’t know what the pirates do, I don’t know what anyone does!”
-Joan Wilder, Romance Author Extraordinaire

It’s easy to burn out when you’re writing. Sometimes words are stubborn and don’t want to get on the page. And that’s fine! It could be your brain’s way of telling you to take a break. Maybe you just need to read or watch something to refill your creative well.

I’ve talked about finding motivation before, but now let’s talk about finding inspiration. I’ll set the scene:
It’s your day off. The house is clean, the kids are occupied, and you have the next few hours to yourself. You can’t wait to write! You sit down in front of your computer, a hot cup of tea/coffee by your side, and you are so ready to write this next chapter. Then, nothing happens. You stare at the screen, your thoughts frozen with seemingly no way to break them out. What do you do?

Okay, first of all, I would recommend stepping away from the computer. I find that trying to force the words out can do more harm than good. Step back and take a few deep breaths. Many people like to call this predicament writer’s block (which I don’t really believe in), but I call it lack of inspiration.

If you’re a hardcore planner like I am, you’re not blocked. You know what happens next, right? You have some idea? Then put yourself into the story. Play music that you associate with it. Put on a show or movie in the background that is related to what you’re writing. Do research relevant to what you’re writing about.

You could also go with the break. Taking a walk, a shower, a nap. Just because you have time to write doesn’t mean that’s all you should do. I’m a huge fan of writing every day, and it will always be my go-to advice. But, I’m also a fan of taking a break when you need it.

Sorry in advance to all those pantsers out there. I can’t offer any advice for you guys.
I hope this helps in some way!
