Preparations!

Hello, all! It is Sunday, January 26, and I am busy. I have been busy all week. And now, I am so swamped I can barely breath.

The Devil’s Maverick comes out in only two days, so there are many preparations to make! I’ll be sure to post more about it as soon as I have time. For now, I just want to thank everyone for their love and support through all of this. I wouldn’t be here without all of you!

I can’t wait to share everything else with you guys. And here’s to more books coming out in the future!

With love,
Lori

Character Interview: Elijah Maverick

Lori: Hello, Elijah. It’s great to have you here. You know, there were a few ladies who weren’t happy that your interview wasn’t first.

Elijah: (leaning back casually) I’m not surprised.

Lori: Of course, you’re not. Shall we start with the questions?

Elijah: Whenever you’re ready, darling.

Lori’s Husband: (sadly from the door) Hey. Cut it out.

Lori: Ahem. Well, going from the same list as Alva’s, would you rather be invisible or able to fly?

Elijah: Invisible. I would love to see what some people get up to whenever they think I’m not around.

Lori: (unamused) That speaks volumes. What did you want to be when you were younger?

Elijah: You should know this one. I’ve only ever wanted one thing and that’s this life. Piracy was the only career for me.

Lori: That’s true. Wow, you’re much easier to question than Alva. So, if I were to hand you £10 million right now, what would you do?

Elijah: I would wonder what I’d done to earn that money.

Lori: Nothing. I would just hand it to you.

Elijah: Fine. I would buy a fleet of ships and take over the ocean.

Lori: You’re such a simple man…

Elijah: May I ask what Alva answered?

Lori: No, you may not. It’s very confidential.

Elijah: But aren’t you-

Lori: Moving on! What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Elijah: Hm. There are a few things I’ve done to be proud of. But I would have to say rescuing Alva from the water that first day. It’s led to so much that I can’t even begin to describe…

Lori: Yes, and everyone will read about that on January 28th!

Elijah: Wait, what?!

Lori: Next question! How do you cheer yourself up on a bad day?

Elijah: A fight’s always a great way to relieve stress and get in some exercise. There’s also another little activity I like to engage in that always puts a smile on my face. Alva and I-

Lori: (rushing) Please don’t. Dear God. What’s your idea of a perfect vacation?

Elijah: There’s this little place on the coast of Africa-

Lori: Stop! You and Alva both? LAST QUESTION! Whose mind would you like to be able to read for a day?

Elijah: I admit it would be fun to know what Alva thinks about, but I think I would pick James. He’s upfront and honest, but I would love to know what secrets he does hold onto.

Lori: Interesting. Thank you so much for joining us. You can leave now.

A special thanks to VexyFate for the art!

Character Interview: Alva Eastman

Haven’t you ever wanted to have a conversation with your favorite fictional character? Me, too! I gathered a series of questions and, though they might not be your favorite characters yet, asked them to the main characters of The Devil’s Maverick!

This is just a fun little series of posts to let you into the characters minds and get to know them a little, complete with beautiful character art by VexyFate (link to her DeviantArt will be beneath the pictures). I will be posting part 2 on the 19th!

So, sit back and enjoy these interviews!

Lori: Good evening, Alva. How are you feeling today?

Alva: A little confused. Why am I here again?

Lori: You’re here because all of these nice people want to learn a little more about you! Are you ready to get started?

Alva: Um…sure.

Lori: Alright. First, would you rather be invisible or able to fly?

Alva: What does that have to do with anything?

Lori: It’s just a standard ‘get to know you’ question. It tells a lot more about a person than you’d think.

Alva: Oh. Well, if I had to choose, I think I’d like to be able to fly. There’s so much freedom in that.

Lori: Nice. Okay, so what did you want to be when you were younger?

Alva: I didn’t think about it too much. Growing up in the orphanage was pretty glum, to be honest. I guess I just wanted to be free and independent when I grew up. I wanted to be able to take care of myself.

Lori: Well, you certainly did that! Next question, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

Alva: That’s a harder one. I mean there’s plenty that I’m not very proud of. But, I would say that one time I-

Lori: Whoa! Stop! I know what you’re going to say and we’re trying to keep this interview spoiler free. Let’s move on to the next question. Pretend I just handed you £10 million. What do you do?

Alva: I’ve never even seen that much money. Well, that would be enough to buy my own land. Then, I could settle down. But, I don’t think Elijah would be too keen on that.

Lori: No, he wouldn’t. But it’s your money and your fantasy, so do what you like!

Alva: Okay. Then, I would buy a nice house in the country and all the land around it so that no one would have reason to bother me or my family.

Lori: No more adventures?

Alva: Well, the occasional adventure, but I would want to settle down at some point. It would be wonderful to have a house of my own.

Lori: Nice. How do you cheer yourself up on a bad day?

Alva: I usually spend time with my friends. James and Abner, and of course Elijah.

Lori: Yeah, we haven’t met them yet, but that’s a great way to make yourself happy! What is your idea of a perfect vacation?

Alva: There’s this special spot on the African coast that-

Lori: No! Spoilers! Geez, Alva, don’t give everything away. Last question, whose mind would you like to be able to read for a day?

Alva: That’s interesting. I mean, Elijah, obviously, but I also wonder about Harris sometimes. I would say it’s a cross between the two.

Lori: I don’t think anyone wants to know what Harris thinks about. (shudders) Well, thank you so much for joining us today! This has been very insightful. Next week, we’ll be speaking with Elijah! Until then!

My Writing Goals for 2020

I’m really looking forward to this year. Some of you may or may not know that today, January 5, is my birthday! I am now a quarter of a century old (and I can feel it!).

I promised to share my New Year’s resolutions with you all, so here I am! I have a ton of goals as far as writing and a packed schedule for the first half of the year already. Let’s get to it!

~Release The Devil’s Maverick (Epic party time!)
~Query Project Manhattan (My second completed novel and contemporary billionaire romance. I wanted to change it up!)
~Start/join a book club (Always wanted to do this!)
~Go to a writer’s retreat! (I had one planned for this month, but we’ll have to wait and see…)
~Start vlogging (Not sure if anyone would be interested, but it might be fun…)
~Run the second annual NaNoWriMo competition at the library (I also want to participate this year, but we’ll have to wait and see)
~Read 50 books
~Read at least 10 books outside of my usual genre (This will be the hardest…)
~Write 2 books (Very do-able. I am already starting a new book and have another outlined)

And that’s all. If you keep up with these blogs (and any vlogs in the future), you’ll get to see the journey for yourself. Or, if you want to wait until the end of the year, I will be posting a comparison and letting you know how things went.

A few personal goals to mention…
I will be getting married in May. I know I mention a husband often, but we’re not officially married yet! We’ve just been together so long, the term fiancĂ© doesn’t seem to fit!
There is also a house and maybe even the start of a family on the horizon J

So, that’s all! I hope to revisit this post as 2021 is approaching and see how much I’ve done. To future Lori: You can do it!

What are some of your resolutions? Let me know!
